IAMAW Local 99 prides itself in the education it provides to members, Shop Stewards and Chief Shop stewards. In addition to the leadership and specialized classes that are taught at the Winpisinger Center in Hollywood Maryland, USA, IAMAW Local 99 provides training for Chief and Shop Stewards for Local 99 as well as District 14.
The training curricula for the Shop Steward and Chief Shop Steward programs are based off of the IAM’s programs, but with several improvements tailored to the real world needs of the students for each program.
Steward programs are taught as needed, but typically happen twice per year. The next two-day training program will occur in the spring of 2017. Check back for further details.
The Chief Shop Steward program is typically taught at one of the two Local 99 Chief Shop Steward meetings held each year. Participants get an opportunity to collaboratively refresh the skills they’ve learned through experience as well as learn new techniques to be more effective in the role
