IAMAW Local 99 runs Steward training programs for Local 99 members as well as for the members of IAMAW locals #1722 and 2583. These programs are 2-day intensive long and are designed to prepare Stewards for the modern workplace. Issues such as grievance writing, communication, mentoring, education, and equality issues are all part of the curriculum for these programs. Guest instructors attend some programs as well.
Local 99 also runs a Chief Shop Steward program in which chiefs have the opportunity to collaborate with each other while refreshing skills. This is designed as a one day refresher course.
